The Big Cats Initiative funds scientists and conservationists with the goal of saving large wildcats such as tigers, lions, and leopards. The organization has helped to protect seven species and supported more than 60 projects since its inception in 2009. The initiative is structured around a three-tier solution:
1. Assessment: Through the evaluation and mapping of big cat populations around the world, the initiative analyzes how well current solutions are working.
2. Protection: The initiative funds conservation projects established by partner groups that reside in the areas native to big cats, with the intention of promoting peaceful cohabitation.
3. Communication: The Big Cats Initiative disseminates important information about the issues currently threatening wildcat populations. This is done in part through the Cause an Uproar campaign.
